Celebrating some of the most iconic leading men in vintage Hollywood, our new Garrett Swann Collection is an ode to tinseltown classicism and flair.
To properly channel the charm and traditions of old world La La Land we engaged Mr Garrett Swann, the New York based designer, model and friend of the brand, to explain the origins and inspiration for each of his looks. Each look is made-to-your-measurements and customisable.
Once considered ‘The King of Hollywood’, Clark Gable is synonymous with the idea of old Tinseltown charm, starring in more than 60 iconic films over three decades. His sense of style, as channeled here in this sophisticated throwback, was as legendary as the roles he made his own, full of lighter shades, traditional details like classic ticket-pocket, elegant accessories and wide-peaked double-breasted jackets.
The English-born actor Cary Grant is one of cinema’s great leading men, known for his debonair charm, comedic timing and his run of critically-acclaimed films with legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. This look, anchored by a delightfully refined windowpane Australian Merino wool suit, is testament to Grant’s enduring personal style, utilising classic and subtle British fabrics for versatile suits equally wearable at work, weddings or play.
One of Hollywood’s original method actors, alongside fellow greats Marlon Brando and James Dean, Montgomery Clift was known for his portrayal of moody young men and attracted a status as a sex symbol throughout his Hollywood rise (and then tragic decline). This classic two-button navy suit, crafted from 90% Super 110s Australian Merino wool and 10% cotton, draws from Montgomery’s preference for wide notch lapels and interesting, textured fabrics.
James ‘Jimmy’ Stewart’s celebrated Hollywood career spanned 62 years, using his down-to-earth persona, distinctive drawl and military background to craft roles that oozed with everyman charm and masculine sophistication. This 100% cotton cream single-breasted suit is a modern-meets-classic interpretation of Stewart’s confident and slightly playful sense of style, mixing tailoring traditions from different eras with his own sartorial originality for a unique and yet timeless look.
The American actor, singer, choreographer and presenter is one of Hollywood’s great all-rounders, but it’s undisputed title as the most influential dancer in history that he’s really remembered for. Stylistically, this pairing of a navy linen jacket with cream silk linen trousers mirrors Astaire’s dandy sartorial flair. Like Astaire, it’s the sort of dashing outfit that will take you anywhere there’s a dancefloor.
Best known for his role as the leading man in the Truman Capote adapted film 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s' and later as renegade leader Col. John ‘Hannibal’ Smith in the 80s hit show ‘The A Team’, George Peppard is remembered for his charming looks, elegant style and skilled acting chops. This 100% Australian Merino wool light grey Herringbone suit is a modern interpretation of the sophisticated, textural suiting of Peppard’s glory years throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, combining classic British traditions with American flair.
