Pitti Party: A Week In Florence During Pitti Uomo

24 June, 2024

Stylish staff plays and action from our week in Firenze for Pitti Uomo, the iconic menswear event.

The massive week-long menswear event, Pitti Uomo, is held twice yearly in Florence, bringing together the world of menswear and tailoring for an industry shebang that mixes pleasure, work and, inevitably, some very ostentatious tailoring. We joined the fun, and shot some content along the way.

Our Head of Marketing, Robert O'Reilly, leaning into a playful pink number in Florence, wearing a two-button single-breasted tailored suit crafted from a luxurious Australian Merino wool milled by northern Italian guns, Stylbiella.

Our Marketing & Merchandise Manager, Tim Casey, wears a taupe-grey Super 150s cloth milled by Loro Piana and designed with a four-by-one double-breasted jacket with aggressively-wide peak lapels.

Our Co-Founder, Robin McGowan, wears a chocolate brown check Merino wool blazer milled by Italian locals, Drago, and designed into a completely deconstructed garment with no canvas, lining or extra weight (for maximum breathability and comfort in the heat).

It was great to catch up with Davide, our Italian luxury tiemaker and the expert hands behind our stunning Made In Italy collection of ties, at the Grand Hotel Minerva in Florence. We used the opportunity to lock down a new drop of elegant silk and wool ties, as well as a luxury run of Made in Italy pocket-squares and bow ties.

It’s never hard to find a good time in Florence, but it’s particularly easy in the week of Pitti Uomo as events are thrown each night across the city’s most beautiful hotels and restaurants. The InStitchu team popped by the iconic Harry’s Bar Firenze, at the Sina Villa Medici Hotel, for free-flowing negronis thanks to W.M. Brown magazine.

One thing that’s apparent on the streets of Florence (where it’s very hot and sunny) is that both design and fibre are crucial to beating the heat in a stylish manner, whether that’s relying on staple summer linens and seersucker, exploring the world of lightweight and open-weave Merino wools, or designing with less structure and canvassing for more breathability.

Whether you’re getting married in warm weather, you’re attending events or weddings later in the year, or you just need more breathability from your tailored work and weekend wear, our extensive range of lightweight fabrics have got you covered.
